Marc Hardy was a member of the independent environmental and social monitoring team for the construction phase performance audits of the Kenya-Uganda (Mombasa to Kampala) railway line, on behalf of Rift Valley Railways Kenya Ltd. and Rift Valley Railways Uganda Ltd. The construction of the line system entailed a total track length of approximately 2,350 km. The project involved an investment by various international development financing institutions including the IFC, the AfDB, FMO, DEG, KfW  and PROPARCO.
